Finally, for the man who has
everything -- except a job where he can dress casually -- it's the Commuter Tie from Thomas Pink. The bright pink silk
tie has a hidden pocket on the back that's the perfect size for an iPod nano, and includes an extra loop to keep
headphone wires from getting tangled (though from Pink's promo pic, right, it looks like the wires will get a bit
jammed anyhow, since the headphone jack on the nano is on the bottom). We can't help but worry that using this with
anything heavier than a nano would result in a curious tightening around the throat -- not to mention a rather
unattractive stretching of our neckwear. And if you're going to spend $95 on a tie, we'd like to think you can also
come up with a few bucks for a dedicated carrying case for your audio player. Of course, all of this is irrelevant to
us, since we're not in the market for a pink tie -- it would clash horribly with our pajamas.

Isn't it about time that we declare that yet another 'pod-sploitation' doo-hickey no longer qualifies as a 'gadget'? Ipod ties, iPod mits, iPod toilet paper holders...they are all the same and all a big yawn.
Andy @ Feb 23rd 2006 4:42PM
It's bad enough that it holds a tie... but then on top of that, it's PINK.
Alex Hubbs @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:13PM
Upon decinding placement for where on the tie the nano should go, they came to the conclusion the back of it was the best place. Not for white doesn't go with pink, but for no color does.
diulei @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:22PM
I'd imagine having something weighing down your tie must be annoying when eating.
Brad C @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:27PM
Someone please tell me how the word "tiePod" is nowhere to be found in this story
Max @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:43PM
It actually comes in pink, navy, and red and is priced about the same as every other Thomas Pink tie.
Pratik @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:52PM
booooooooooooooo
I bought my ipod to work and i wasnt allowed to listen to it
Whats the point
Waste of money
giveaphuk @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:53PM
this is a nifty invention, but i'm wondering why the headphones don't run through the tie @ least to a plug closer to the neck, where another set of headphones can be jacked in...
Jonathan Vass @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:53PM
Yeh, i invented this thing for the iPod shuffle about 6 months ago. I built it into my school tie and traced where the controls for it were on my tie, so i could control it all through the tie.
My own tiePod shuffle as i named it.
nojok3 @ Feb 23rd 2006 5:58PM
And who wears the same tie everyday? So you either wear the tie everyday of the year or wear it once every time you wear the tie. Fun
tiePod, I'm surprised that wasn't used as the name.
Fantaz @ Feb 23rd 2006 6:01PM
We need a new blog devoted to ipod crap.
Reg @ Feb 23rd 2006 6:02PM
Regular tie: $20
Pair of scissors: $2
Making your own Nano tie and proving you're smarter than the average fashion victim: Priceless
Bob @ Feb 23rd 2006 6:35PM
I do this all the time with a regular tie. You need to undo like 2 stiches then add a velcro band. Its like fifty cents instead of 90 dollars.
JK @ Feb 23rd 2006 6:43PM
Could those of you who usually wear Wal-Mart ties instead of Thomas Pink ties please stop commenting? Not that I wear either tie, but you don't see people running around autoblog going "Add a Garmin handheld GPS to that Hyundai and presto! Mercedes Benz!"
$95 is just what TP ties cost. Don't be bitter about your underpriviledged status.
ET @ Feb 23rd 2006 8:45PM
Sooo, they do realize the earphone jack is on the bottom of the nano, right? I don't see where the wire would run...
Stanley @ Feb 23rd 2006 8:57PM
How cool can this be? A relief from the button down world with an Ipod hidden in plain sight!
Ethan Fineout @ Feb 23rd 2006 11:08PM
The picture is wrong, not the idea. If you flip it so the jack is coming out on the 'top' when you look down at the Nano it will be oriented correctly-IE it will be as if it is upright in relation to your viewing angle. Same way that if you clip a watch to your belt you want it 'upside down' when you pull it up and look it is correct.
Ben Tong @ Feb 24th 2006 3:39AM
Um. Pretty cool design. However, I don't have a job that require me to wear a tie.
KurtRoedeger @ Feb 24th 2006 5:38AM
Where's the remainder of the tie that gets tucked behind the part everyone sees, or is this thing a clip on too? I think it's a clip on, HA!!

This inventor could have sold this product to apple's Steve & then it would be the most hot product for the keynotes in his next presentation.
Imagine Steve Jobs wearing this pink tie....but too bad he doesn't have colar shirts....he's very addicted to one n only dress code "black t-shirt, blue denim"
yuppicide @ Feb 24th 2006 8:48AM
That's got to be the ugliest tie ever. Atleast if I buy something else in pink they make a donation to breast cancer charities.
mike @ Feb 25th 2006 3:03AM
You guys wear pj's to work? Not fair lol
raj @ Feb 25th 2006 11:27AM
Thomas Pink iPod tie keeps your nano on your neck looks great. Now we can listen mp3 songs wherever we wanted.

I'm surprised they didn't call it "iTie". Now days, pretty much everything that has anything to do with Apple's product (or not even so) starts with an "i".
rachael @ Feb 28th 2006 8:49AM
oh my god i hit this site what the hell. i'm popular my name is rachael I'm from Long Prairie MN i go to Long Prairie Grey Eagle High School.and in 10 grade

gadgetgoo @ May 23rd 2006 9:58PM
not to steer the comments away from everyone's own Home-Eckery, but Alex and Andy - pink goes with lots of colors.
